What is the legality of defaming a funeral?
If someone’s child comes to his or her funeral and says he or she wants to play a song, and people assume it’s going to be a nice song, but then realize that the child is playing an emotionally charged but mellow “glad you’re gone” type of song, hateful, etc., say from a lifetime of abuse, what can be done legally to the child, assuming the child is over 18? What can family and friends who also attend the funeral, or siblings of the child, do legally, worst case scenario?
Or the funeral directors, etc.

Nothing now. There is a case before the supreme court on this subject. An extreme religious groups started protesting the military, with extremely insulting signs at private military funerals. They got sued by the deceased’s parents and now its at SCOTUS. They’ll decide in six months or so if it’s illegal
