The death of a loved one, friend or neighbor can be traumatic for a child. Regardless of their age, entering the funeral home can be a very scary or uncomfortable experience. Westchester Funeral Home is expanding their organization so that they can better meet the needs of children in their community.
As part of their commitment to children and families, Westchester Funeral Home is offering a free workshop on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 to help local professionals properly support children at their funeral home. This workshop will teach social workers, child life specialists, therapists and counselors the fundamental skills needed to promote family-centered care in funeral homes. Cindy Clark, MSW, CCLS from Hoping Skills Company will identify and demonstrate specific strategies and techniques for supporting individual children, groups of children and families.
