Excellent video it really brings it home what it must have been like to have actually been there (more so than the BBC coverage).

  4. pspboy7

Brits know how to parade, nuff said. Luckily Canada has adopted a lot of what the Brits do.

Inspirational. The US has nothing to compare with Brit ceremonial. Even the 3rd Infantry, US Army (Old Guard) doesn’t come close. The highlight of JFK’s funeral procession in my opinion was the Black Watch. Even the dignity of what I assume were retired Guardsmen in tailcoats, including the older fellow who could barely manage to walk, was awesome.
Nope – nobody does ceremonial better than the Brits. Makes me proud of my Scottish highlander heritage.

Nop question about that – look in the dictionary under pomp and circumstance – and you see pictures of the British Royal Guards!!!!!!!! There is no better parade than the Brits can do!!!!!!

During WW2 when London was being bombed by the Nazis during the blitz, the Queen mother was asked why the Royal Family didn’t leave for safety reasons..she said: ‘the children won’t leave without me, I won’t leave without the King, and the King will never leave…’ As a Brit, I honestly believe that spirit is still here….it’s who we are – IF required ALL of us would be four square behind these soldiers to defend our great nation…god bless our soldiers here and overseas – come home safe….

I had taken the day off work to watch the funeral live on tv. I will never forget this part of the proceedings. So dignified, so utterly brilliant. Not a dry eye in the room.

The queen was 73 at the time so I don’t think that she could have walked that far

I was just in Scotland last September. I would move there in a minute if I could and spend the rest of my life there. The Country. The People. God Bless Scotland. The Brave.

OMG I remember this. I slept on the street in front of The Abbey that night. Not very comfortable, but I was there. Had to do it. An Aussie in England at the time, and we share a birthday (QM and Me) – 4th August.
I was heaps closer to Westminster than you…… (couldn’t get closer). I felt every bit of sleeping on the cement. – NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Good luck to you….. Be good.

Those bagpipes are amazing! Truly a grand entrance for a Royal funeral. Don’t see this kind of thing here in the US unless it’s a firefighter or policeman’s funeral.
