  1. IRS is stealing your money

    shoot em.

Bomb the Westboro Baptist Church. Then protest at their funerals.

  3. Barack Marxist

Hung by their thumbnails, impaled, acid thrown on their face and thrown off a cliff.

  4. JOE

They should die a horrible death and burn in hell

  5. JERR-EEE

Arrest them and give them a hefty fine. It’s OK to protest for what you believe in, but doing it at a funeral is very inappropriate and extremely rude.

Well, the protesters have the right to protest and speak their mind. Just as the family has the right to speak their mind in reaction to the protesters.

As long as the confrontation does not turn violent, everything should stay as it is. This is America, after all.

  7. Answer the Question!

People have proposed laws to ban it – I disagree with that. I think we need less laws not more. Change the law to make it legal to beat the hell out of someone who is protesting at a funeral. That would take care of it real quick.

  8. RedSheepHerder

Americans have a right to protest. But if it comes to the point that they still protest during a solemn time such as a funeral, and by the men/women who defend those rights, then they don’t deserve those rights.

  9. ?Gunny ?

they should be hogtied and left on the ground for me to poop on

  10. Mart

Defiantly not a very cool thing to do, but they are protected by the 1st. amendment. As much as I disagree with these people, I would disagree more with them being told they cant protest.

well they are called the westboro baptist church or something but they are really just a bunch of wackos that hate everything

i think they should each be lined up and shot execution style on video as their church is being burned to the ground in the background

Um, I know America has this freedom of speech thing going on, but I think that protesting AT A FREAKING FUNERAL is extremely inappropriate, and who are they protesting to? the parents of the dead soldiers? they should seriously think about these things before they act…
not really a big fan of the war btw

  13. Joshua

The Westboro baptist church protested at a marines funeral. There is a law that states that any protest must be a certain amount of distance away from a funeral.

I don’t think it’s okay at all, it’s disgusting. However, if it is a peaceful demonstration I don’t see what can be done about it. That’s one of the great things about America, freedom to assemble.

protests are a way of life in the USA. but personally i would have called an anti protest with rolling thunder on their bikes and let the chips fall where they may.

  16. jduck1987

As a soldier myself I think it is rude and an abuse of the freedom of speech. But as all american soldiers, I fight for the rights of these protesters just as much as you and me. So as long as they are not trespassing it is there constitutional right.

  17. Peety

hang them by their heels, naked, upside down until their sense of decency flows back from their private parts to their brains.

  18. Popcorn

They should get the Holy Sh*t kicked out of them; Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. ^-^

No, it is NOT their constitutional right. The rights that are granted to us by the Constitution are only our rights so long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others. This is a basic way for explaining why murder is illegal. It may be in your pursuit of happiness to be a serial killer, but it infringes on others’ right to life. WBC is infringing upon the right of these families to mourn. While that’s not something addressed in the Constitution it is still traditionally a sacred time. You don’t disturb peoples’ weddings just for shits and giggles do you? Military wedding or not, they need to be stopped. They’ll be going before the Supreme Court this fall and I hope that they get a ruling of owing enough millions to Lcpl Snyder’s dad that they can’t operate anymore. I hope that whatever the ruling of the Supreme Court is sparks Congress to enact FEDERAL laws regarding funerals and protests because there are sporadic local laws that have been reactions to them but they are not enough.

This won’t stop the WBC from protesting, besides the monetary part. They protest many things other than funerals, but they’re just famous for the funerals. Therefore this is not infringing upon their rights.

If you just leave them be and allow them to do what they do, sooner or later someone is going to give them what they so richly deserve.

The best part is, any grieving relative or friend that shoots one of these sons of bitches is not going to be convicted of anything. All they have to do is say…Temporary Insanity! 6 month counseling and a lot of pats on the back.

  21. douffuss

This is indeed an interesting question.

I do think that news laws need to be in place to mitigate confrontations or that allow interference with the mourning that may interract or provoke people that are in an unstable (in your case) mournful situation. Completely abolish it!

I read in the media a couple months back a situation where there was an “anti-gay in the military” protest during a military funeral; The father of the departed soldier assaulted one of the protesters. Apparently, the protesters had every right to protest as they were abiding by laws by keeping 1000′ away from procession/funeral home/burial site. I would indeed believe that new laws need to be put in place. This is extraordinary and appaulling and down-right indecent as the departed military person was not even known to be gay.

All said, I don’t think there should be any distance measure for a protest at a funeral of any kind. I think it should be deemed illegal.

Protesting can be done more civil at City Hall(s), etc.

They should be deported to Afghanistan to the tender mercies of the Taliban.

  23. Lawrence D

If you’re talking about the westboro baptist people, I think you have the wrong question. The question should be who is funding them to protest around the country, not just funerals. I can’t understand why anyone would get angry at a family (80% of the church is their own family), albeit a large family, when it’s obvious that their set up is being manipulated by a much more powerful entity. When will people connect the dots and realize that it’s about controlling the opposition. Now people who do believe in the message of the Bible are going to be ridiculed in the same breath as WBC. It looks like everyone is getting sucked into the agenda of some rich organization seeking the cheapest way (a few million dollars is nothing to these people) to spread their political message against the Holy Bible.

    Life in prison.

  25. Smart @ss

I have several loved ones in the military….

and all I need to say is that if they were to show up at a funeral I was attending, I would be in prison for a very, very long time. It’s not the time nor place to shove your beliefs down someone’s throat.

Protest all you want, the world still knows you’re crazy. But at a funeral? C’mon now. Have some decency and respect for the fallen. This church DISGUSTS me.
