How long does it take for funerals to be planned?
My parents know a young man who died suddenly today. We are planning on going to Hawaii for Thanksgiving but may cancel or shorten it if the funeral is around thanksgiving. They are a mormon family if that helps(they may not have it on certain days?). Do you think the funeral would fall on Thanksgiving or this weekend or would that be too soon?

the usual time for a funeral (from time of death to burial) is about 3 days depending on how elaborate
the relatives want it.

my late sister planned her funeral a year before she died. go on the holiday and see the family when you come back, they will be still in shock and probably need you then after all the funeral has died down
Call the family and ask when the funeral is.
If you feel awkward doing that, call the church or the funeral home and see if they know the answer.
Sorry about your parents’ friend.
Usually 3-4 days from the day he died, unless there is some reason to wait longer (like out of town relatives, a police investigation, etc.)
Usually a few days. I mean you have to factor in the burial too, which has to be done pretty quick(unless it is a cremation and I don’t think mormons do that).
