Grave Expectations: Planning The End Like There’s No Tomorrow
Grave Expectations:Planning the End Like There’s No Tomorrow is an informative and entertaining guidebook for designing your own funeral. Upon initially opening the book I thumbed through it skimming some of the content, smiling at its creative format with thought-provoking questions and space for answers and ideas. I told a friend, “It’s a hoot with a lot of practical information.” Now that I have read it, I agree with my former assessment.
The authors have done an incredible amount of research and presented the information in an easy reading format with humor and sensitivity. Perhaps it will open some avenues of discussion within families who avoid the topic of death, which is the natural progression of all life. When my mother unexpectedly passed away, I was thankful that our family knew her wishes because she had made them known at other funerals and in other ways over periods of time.
Although over the years, I have given thought to what I might want for myself, I have never really come to any decisions. My own adult children avoid discussing any of this with me, “we don’t want to think about it.” I had done the necessary paperwork to simplify the legal process for them such as a notarized will, medical directive, durable medical power of attorney, finances payable on death.

Grave Expectations: Planning The End Like There’s No Tomorrow
Grave Expectations is phenomenal and fun. For the first time, finally, a book that demystifies death and makes it a perfectly, normal, acceptable part of life. It takes the fear out of dying and makes me face the subject of death head on by giving me the honor and privilege to feel comfortable to prepare for the inevitable. In doing so, I’m now taking charge to plan my own funeral/party, so to speak, and the way I want my life to be celebrated. Not only that, but the topic of death and funerals in Grave Expectations is so fascinating and well researched by Bailey and Flowers that I’m having open conversations with family and friends about a once taboo subject and giving the book away as gifts. I’d highly recommend this ‘must read’ for all the living!
