    @tutiger1881 I agree completely. Today’s celebrities did not represent at all; I guess they had better things to do…Oh, my bad! A few did “tweet” on her passing; that counts, doesn’t it???

    she was a special woman and she will be missed.

    @outinsider Your use of the language, left a lot to be desired, in your response to Daily, as did the woe is me attitude. That being said…. I looked at Daily’s initial post on this topic and he appears to be quite the moron. I can see how he would illicit an emotional response, that appears in fact, to be his goal. In the process however, be not only lured you into his ugly debate, he also tripped himself up, with his foolish tone.
    Here he serves to highlight the nonsense to be dealt with.

    I am simply stating facts about what I and Lena had to deal with- both of us have tried to rise above what society dealt us to overcome, to prove racists wrong, and to face head on.

    @outinsider it would serve you well, to study and strive towards, the strength of purpose, the air of undeniablity and stoic courage, that drove the rare likes of Miss Horne, to her position as an iconic star, who defined class and dignity. Rather than whining about being trapped in a racist society, she fearlessly overcame racism much stronger and socially accepted, than you are likely to see in your lifetime. Don’t like racists…prove them wrong. Nothing can wound them more.

    Lena’s gone, and much of today’s black youth never heard of her while it implodes on the filth that pervades the larger part of rap–hip hop–gangsta while erasing connections that had been forged between black and white by folks like Miss Horne.
    This crap is more than disgusting, it’s hurtful toward all. Black leaders please stop equivocating, take definitive stands against it!!

    @DailyDeity
    No, they don’t. We are held down by the racist society for which America has. Society expects us to fail at every turn. Every accomplishment we make our racist society says we don’t deserve. Every mistake we make is a fatal judgment on our race in our racist society. And do you know what fuels this racist society? White people like you.

    @outinsider

    Black people keep themselves down.

    @DailyDeity

    I had the honour to stage manage Lena Horne’s London show in 1985.
    And it was an honour. R.I.P.

    There’s obviously much going on here. And for good reason. I couldn’t help but look for glimpses on the arrival of Marilyn Horne who, as she has said, is Lena Horne’s “younga sista.”

    We need Lena’s class in today’s music & entertainment.
