Can you work in a funeral home without going to college?
I’m planning to go to college to study mortuary science, but I really want to work in a funeral home before I graduate. I know you can work in one while you are in college, but is it possible to work in a funeral home before then?

Yes it is. Back when I was in college, there were several of my classmates that were working in funeral homes. From my experience and theirs, I have heard of several people who never even went to college for mortuary science but was still working at a funeral home.
It does depend on what funeral home you try, but potentially you could answer phones, be an attendant, or help with removals. My advice to you is to put on your suit and bring a resume to a local funeral home and see if they are looking for someone for any of those kind of positions. If they aren’t, maybe they can recommend someone who is.
Another option is contact your local Batesville Casket Rep, Dodge Chemical Rep, or state funeral director association. They might know what funeral home is hiring or might be willing to keep an ear open.
Good luck.
