Can anyone from The Netherlands tell me about funerals there?
I’m writing an essay about culture, belief and customs and I need to know more about how the Dutch conduct funerals – what cars they use, the laws around being buried ( how long after death etc), any customs or etiquette etc. I can’t find any good websites in English. Any info with pictures maybe of a procession or what undertakers wear would be grateful.

In the Netherlands you have a lot of choices how you want a funeral.
For example;
Transport, this can be a car but also a bike, motor, truck, boat etc.
buried
Not before 36 hours and no longer than 5 days after. (they don’t count the day the person died and since January 2008 they don’t count sundays or official holidays like christmas.
Only the mayor of the community were you live can make an exception.
I know a local television called OOG that had an item about funerals.
(mijn uitvaart = my funeral)
They did it in 6 programs., You can see them on:
